Industrial production in Latvia increased 4.7 percent year-on-year in January of 2017, compared to a 11.5 percent jump in the preceding month. It is the weakest output growth since October last year, as manufacturing slowed (7.8 percent vs 11.6 percent in December) and electricity and gas supply dropped 0.4 percent (from 10.9 percent rise in prior month. In contrast, mining and quarrying rose further (18.8 percent vs 16.2 percent). On a monthly basis, industrial production fell 2.8 percent, following a 0.2 percent increase in December. Industrial Production in Latvia averaged 3.97 percent from 2001 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 23.30 percent in October of 2010 and a record low of -26.70 percent in February of 2009.
