Netherlands Household Consumption YoY

Household consumption in the Netherlands rose 2.5 percent year-on-year in December of 2016, slowing from a downwardly revised 2.7 percent growth in November. It was the weakest growth since September, driven by a slowdown in spending for other goods (7.3 percent from 8.2 percent in the previous month) and a decline in spending for food, beverages, tobacco (-1.9 percent from 0.8 percent). In contrast, spending increased more than in a month earlier for: durable goods (6.1 percent from 4.3 percent) and services (1.7 percent from 1.6 percent). Personal Spending in Netherlands averaged 0.49 percent from 2002 until 2016, reaching an all time high of 4.30 percent in April of 2006 and a record low of -3.10 percent in May of 2009.
